I’ve been in and out of crafting recently. Life you know. Well, I was seeing all these cards on youtube and instagram from a card challenge called Kendra’s Card Challenge #7 and I started considering giving it a try. Then, she also hosted a hop on YouTube where each crafter did one of the sketches and by the end of it, I was hooked, I should have known, it is who I am anyway.
So, I decided to give it a go. I went to her website and downloaded the sketch for the month. By the way, her website for future card challenges if you want to give it a go is Cards by Kendra. I grabbed 6 pieces of 6×6 paper that were from the same paper pad and I thought I was good to go. Well, I have spent all week and I haven’t gotten as far as I would have liked.
I have been doing some thinking about where I went wrong on this and I think it comes down to 2 things both of which are tied to basically the selection of the paper pad. First, I did not grab a paper pad that has much of a theme and the colors. While I love the papers, I didn’t think about how they would mix so when I try it again, I will be looking at which papers A-F go on cards together and try to be a bit more strategic about which paper I make which letter. At the same time, I think I also didn’t have enough direction with the paper pack so when it came to adding cardstock, embellishments, and sentiments, I felt like nothing really went with it.
At this point, I’m a week into the challenge and I’ve finished like 5 of the cards and am not totally thrilled with any of them. I’ll add some pictures below, but this was my first venture into a card challenge and I feel like I need to give it another go. I’m just not thrilled with my first go of it. I will have to give it a second try.
